Big Reveal | Evening in Central Park, NYC.
Those who solved the coordinates from my original artwork competition uncovered the next print destination…Central Park… and here it is!
My latest typed scene depicts the ice skating at Central Park’s iconic Wollman Rink, one of the most iconic corners of NYC. And here is why this artwork is so special to me. This is my second night-time scene and one of my most colourful yet, following on from my Times Square piece earlier this year. For this artwork, I decided to use every vintage colour ribbon I’ve collected since 2021.

The video for this piece is now live on Instagram (link here) … please take a look! You might need to pause the video to catch all the typed details, and if you spot a hidden typed message that resonates with you, then please leave a like and let me know in the comments on the video. Your engagement helps more of my followers discover my artwork. As an independent artist, I want to quickly say thank you so much for your continued support!
The up-close shot below reveals some of my hidden typed messages and details.
As a child, I was captivated by Where’s Waldo and this piece definitely takes inspiration from the dense, character-filled worlds of Martin Hanford’s work. However, instead of capturing the hustle and bustle of downtown city scenes which is my comfort zone, I wanted to turn my focus towards people; the small moments of joy and community that fill Central Park in winter.
I have always loved A Charlie Brown Christmas; particularly the opening skating scene where the characters are dressed in their bright winter clothes, glide and tumble across the ice. The bold colours, playful patterns, and cheerful simplicity of that scene. Inspired by this, I have given each of my skaters their own personality through woolly hats, puffer jackets, striped scarves, and spotty jumpers typed in letters, numbers and punction marks.
Take a Closer Look
As with all my works, this piece is packed with at least a hundred hidden typed messages for you to discover. A few examples are:
Historical facts about Central Park such as the fact that it’s home to over 25,000 trees.
There are also hidden typed details about the artwork itself such as “it took 3 weeks to type.” (when I typed this, I still spent an extra week perfecting the details)
And, of course, some more playful inclusions like “I glide on my butt,” which reflects exactly how my own skating skills would fare on ice. I am 6ft 4 and have no balance… whatsoever.
The piece also pays homage to the Wollman Ice Rink, named after Kate Wollman, who generously donated $600,000 (around $7 million today) toward its construction in memory of her brother.
The rink has become a cultural landmark, appearing in films such as Serendipity, Love Story, and most famously Home Alone 2, which I’ve subtly referenced within the scene.
And if you look closely, you’ll even find a tiny version of me sitting at my typewriter. A meta nod to the process itself: me, typing the artwork inside the very world I’ve created.
