Discover my latest typewriter piece from Oxford and find out how you could take home a framed copy

Radcliffe Camera, Oxford. July 2025.
Oxford’s Radcliffe Camera Typewriter Art Reveal + Win a Framed Print
It’s finally here!
I’m thrilled to reveal my latest typewriter artwork: a tribute to Oxford’s iconic Radcliffe Camera, created in collaboration with @bodleianlibraries, one of the oldest and largest libraries in Europe.
Seated on the historic cobbles of Radcliffe Square, I had very special access from Oxford University and Bodleian Library to type on-location. I was surrounded by centuries of history. Ultimately, I’ve gone and hidden typed messages into the piece which were inspired by Oxford’s literary legacy for you to find!

Instagram has recently changed how it shows my artwork, which means it's becoming harder for my existing friends and followers to see my videos. By liking or commenting, you help Instagram share the video more widely with everyone who follows me, so thank you for your support 😃

Why Oxford?
Back in January, I was introduced to the communications team at the Bodleian Library after they discovered my typewriter art on Instagram. Naturally, libraries, writing, and typewriters go hand in hand and I had long dreamt of creating an on-location piece of Oxford’s Radcliffe Camera.
So, I set up my 1930s Smith Premier typewriter in Radcliffe Square, right in front of the Radcliffe Camera, one of the city’s most iconic and architecturally-distinctive landmarks.
We were kindly granted special permission to drive and park on-site, which is no small task in Oxford; a city not exactly known for being car-friendly. Between the maze of one-way systems, restricted access zones, and tight historic roads, it took us over 40 minutes to travel the final 200 yards.
Joining me was my younger brother Joe who is a film and TV editor with a talent for camerawork. He was a huge help in carrying gear and filming the process (as well as keeping one eye on all the camera gear we used to avoid any of it going missing) With a 25kg typewriter, a tripod, a chair and a stack of camera equipment, driving was the only way to make this project work.
We even climbed the 127 steps to the top of the University Church of St Mary the Virgin to film the final piece from above. Originally, I had hoped to type from this dramatic viewpoint, but after speaking with the team who run the tower, it became clear that wasn’t an option. The spiral staircase is extremely narrow, and with the size and weight of the typewriter, it would’ve been nearly impossible to carry safely. The balcony at the top is also far too narrow to set up and work from.
Due to the unique circumstances of this project, the artwork was started from my studio and completed on-location. It has taken 3 weeks to type and contains more than 100 hidden messages!
