My First Typewriter Art of 2026!

The First Artwork Typed in 2026, an Unexpected Gift from an Iconic Illustrator and the Bestsellers Collection Ends Soon!

Kicking Off 2026 at Full Typing Speed!

Hello everyone,

I hope everyone has had a fantastic start to the new year. January can sometimes feel calm after the festive rush, but things have been anything but quiet at my wobbly typewriter desk. I have been full steam ahead at the typewriter, click-clack, ding, tapping and typing away on exciting new artworks for 2026, and I cannot wait to share what I have been working on with you very soon.

Before anything else, I want to say a huge thank you to everyone who ordered one of my typewriter prints over Christmas, whether as a gift for a loved one or as something special for yourself. Knowing that my work has travelled across the globe and has been shared with family and friends over the festive period genuinely means a great deal to me.

Thank you.

A Gift from the Biff, Chip and Kipper Illustrator

A Gift from Iconic Children’s Book Illustrator, Alex Brychta

In early January, I received an extraordinary gift from Alex Brychta, the iconic children’s book illustrator best known for the Biff, Chip and Kipper books.

Anyone who grew up in the early 2000s and went to school in the UK will recognise Biff, Chip, Kipper, and Floppy. Alex’s illustrations shaped the reading experience of generations of children, and they had a lasting influence on me too. One book in particular, A Day in London, left a strong impression on me as a child and helped spark my early interest in drawing and visual storytelling. In fact, I recall taking this book with me on my first trip to London at the age of five, when we visited Tower Bridge and the Tower of London.

After Alex reached out to me on Instagram, I told him how influential his work had been to me as a child. I sent him one of my London prints as a thank you, and he kindly mentioned that he would create a small sketch in return.

…what arrived in the post went far beyond that!

Alex sent a fully finished watercolour of me at my typewriter in my studio, complete with Biff, Chip, Kipper, and Floppy the dog at my feet. He captured my likeness brilliantly, and it feels like such a meaningful full circle moment. Thank you, Alex.

⏳ Final Reminder: 7 Days Left

The Bestsellers Collection

This is a quick but important reminder that my Bestsellers Collection will be coming to an end in just 7 days.

Once this collection closes, these editions will not be available again until Christmas time.

The Bestsellers Collection brings together a curated selection of my most requested and most loved artworks, including both returning favourites and newer releases:

  • Evening in Times Square - one of my most requested prints, finally making its long-awaited return.

  • Radcliffe Camera - the Oxford landmark that many of you have been asking about since my visit to the Bodleian Library in August.

  • The Flatiron Building - an all-time favourite, and one of the most recognisable corners of New York.

  • Brooklyn Bridge and Golden Gate Bridge - two icons of engineering and architecture that have become staples in my print collection.

  • Bryant Park - completed using yellow and black ink ribbons to capture the city’s iconic taxis.

If you have been considering adding one of these to your collection, now is the time. Once the 7 days are up, this collection will close.

A Sneaky Peek at My First Artwork of 2026

My first print release of 2026 will be a special one. It features a location I have never visited, from a country I have never typed before.

Below is a very early small snippet of the upcoming artwork…

Before this print goes live, I will also be holding another opportunity to win an original piece of artwork. This competition will be Japanese themed, and hidden within the typed artwork will be a set of coordinates. These numbers reveal the exact location of my first print of the year.

More details on this will be coming very soon…

Behind the Scenes: A New Travelling Typewriter

The case for my new travelling typewriter project…

At the beginning of January, I received some very exciting news. Later this year, I will be travelling abroad to create artwork on location from the exact viewpoint of two very special landmarks.

Preparing for these projects has already led me down an unexpected path. Working abroad brings a unique set of challenges for someone like me who relies on transporting big, cumbersome typewriters all over the place. It quickly became clear that I needed a very specific typewriter, one that could travel easily, handle larger artworks, and look great on camera.

Finding a machine that met those requirements turned out to be far more difficult than I anticipated, but I did eventually track one down. It is a rare wide carriage portable typewriter from the 1950s, and while it solves several practical problems, it also presented a few creative ones. However, it needs some restoration work to look its very best.

I will be sharing the full story, including the transformation currently underway, in my next newsletter…

Here is me signing off again, thank you so much for continuing to follow my art and I look forward to showing you my latest typed artwork very soon!
